SUPPORTING THE TROOPS

The Det 3 Foundation purpose is to provide direct support to
combat troops from the US Army and the United State Marine
Corps.

The Foundation also provides handheld GPS units to
combat commanders from any unit stationed in forward
positions on a request basis.

We began our efforts by working with one specific group;  A
troop, 1st of the 75th Cav, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st
Airborne Division.

The Cav has a very tough job. Their mission is "Reconnaissance, Surveillance and Target Acquisition"  Patrolling in
small teams, they seek, locate and fix the enemy, then call in supporting arms to destroy them  It is very tough, very
dangerous work.

We were inspired to begin supporting the Marine Corps because of the fierce dedication of a Marine Corp nurse.  This
young lady, (who wishes to remain anonymous), contracted a neurological virus while serving with the Marines in the
mountains of Afghanistan.  She became extremely ill, and was forced to return to the US.

In spite of her serious illness, she continues caring for "her marines" by seeking help for them from her sickbed.  She
truly has the heart of an American warrior.   We are proud to support the United States Marines in her honor

"We will support these units until they come home, and then support their replacements, and we will do so
repeatedly until they all come home."

HOW IT ALL STARTED

In 2005, the 101st was deployed to Iraq for the third time.  During that deployment I was blessed with the opportunity to adopt; a platoon
from A Troop, 1st Squadron of the 75th Cav. About once a month, I shipped them comfort food and things to make life a little easier.

When they returned from Iraq in October of 2006, I went to Fort Campbell, KY to see them, and take them all out for a steak dinner. It was a
wonderful experience. I was so impressed by these young men, I decided to do more— I solicited money from my friends, and arranged
to have a Christmas party for them and their wives/girlfriends. It was a magnificent evening.

IN HARMS WAY AGAIN

\Within 60 days of their return from Iraq, A Troop received a warning order, to train and prepare for deployment in October of 2007 for
Afghanistan. In due course, the men arrived in a staging area in November, 2007 and got a bit of a surprise...they learned that they were
being diverted to  Iraq.

WHAT THE DET 3 FOUNDATION IS ASKING OF YOU

This foundation is asking for your tax-deductible donations to enable us to support the troops.  Every penny raised will go to that purpose.
All work will be done by volunteers, and no person other than our troops will derive any financial benefit.

We’ve asked the unit to let us know of things they need. We will fulfill those requests as best we can.  The need is great, and we really
need your help. You can learn what we've already done in the "Completed Missions" section of our website.  Please consider an
immediate contribution combined with a monthly pledge.  Any contribution will be gratefully appreciated.

You can make donations and pledges here on the website, in the Giving and Support section, or by sending your check made out to:
